Earthy Babes - A Natural Approach to Mothering

I could not wait to have a baby! I knew that I wanted to be a mother and that the experience would complete me, and it has. When my husband and I found out we were expecting our first child in 2000, we were overjoyed. I read all the mainstream books, prepared a nursery, planned my hospital birth, and waited expectantly to meet my tiny miracle.

When Jack Christopher was born, my life changed completely. All my plans and ideals changed following his birth. Having my son made me start to question everything and, for the first time, I was really conscious in my decision-making. Each day after Jack was born, I shed tears of joy over my precious miracle. Instinctively, I held Jack close and did what I felt in my heart. Jack nursed on-demand, slept close to me every night, and was treated with all the love and respect he deserves.

Our second and third children, Logan Alexander and Madeleine Grace, were born at home. Their entries into this world were so peaceful and gentle. I truly feel like I gave them the best Birth Day gifts ever! We sold our crib years ago, and opted for the family bed. I nursed through my second pregnancy and third pregnancies.

I think the ideal situation for raising children would be to do it with a community of other mothers or extended family. I am lucky enough to live in an area where mothers really do care for each other. When someone has a baby or is sick, meals suddenly and enthusiastically arrive. If a mother is overwhelmed, help is just a phone call away. Need a night out with your husband? No problem. I know how truly blessed I am and I never take my friends for granted. Thank you so much Lori, Karen, Jana, Jennifer H, Stephanie, Becky, and Jen C! It’s up to mothers as a whole to support one another, and it begins with each step we take. When I decided to make a go of my business plan, I moved forward with a vision of offering a sense of community to mothers. My dream is for Earthy Babes to be a place that mothers can get support, information, encouragement, and inspiration. I hope my site will become a hand to hold for the natural family. I want to offer all the things that have helped me on my journey. I’ve also tried my best to support other work-at-home mothers (WAHMs) by carrying many of their products. A great deal of thought has been put into this site. I really want you to feel comforted and inspired by the photographs you see here and be able to get the information you need to make conscious decisions regarding your family.
